A new internet site is in the works for Gainesville State College. The new site is aimed to be "published by the end of the summer semester," said Valarie Reeves, webmaster at GSC. "The goal is to be more logical for prospective students and any who are unfamiliar with our organization structure and current website," Reeves said.
Last semester Gainesville State College had two brand new water fountains constructed on campus. Those fountains were supposed to add flare to the campus, but now they are bone dry and haven't run for months. The college turned off the fountains to conserve water.
"Who ordered the gratuity?!" I overheard this question as I dropped a check to a table of 10 people. A rude, cheap, and as it turned out, not very bright woman was rigorously checking every item on her ticket. When she arrived at the item entitled "gratuity," she furiously questioned the rest of her party, "Who ordered the gratuity?! It's expensive!" The woman thought that "gratuity" was a meal! I was just thankful for automatic minimum gratuity for parties of eight or more.

But it is here, in this secluded office off a covert hallway in the math and computer sciences buildings, that a very remarkable woman can be found.
Gainesville State College student Kristen Hill will be walking 60 miles this October in the Breast Cancer 3-day walk. Hill, 20, decided to walk in the marathon as a way of giving back to the community. "I am walking in gratitude because I can. I am walking in hope for all of those who cannot," said Hill.
