Why a GOOSE?

Freshmen, how excited were you to hear that your new school, Gainesville State College was now the official barer of the newly founded mascot 'Laker the Goose'. No offense but I don't get it, why do we need a mascot? We have no competitive teams other than intramurals. Are they going to start being called different colored geese? In the words of Paris Hilton and cliquish, "That's Hot"??
Also did you see our mascot in person at the clubs fair? Personally he scared me. Even on the shirts he doesn't look in intimidating he looks like he has rabies.
On the brighter side of things I'm glad that GSC is trying to bring its students together by some college spirit and making GSC more like other colleges. But honestly I don't see it happening. GSC is a commuter college some people live up to two hours away and they don't want to come to campus for an event that no one shows up for.
