The Spring Concert, featuring the Brass Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Chorale from Gainesville State College, we be held at Brenau University's Pearce Auditorium on April 28th. Admission is free, and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
David Thomas, director of choral and vocal studies at GSC, said the Chorale would be presenting "a fairly broad selection of music" at the concert. Thomas said the Chorale would be performing a piece from the classical composer Haydn, a piece from the Renaissance written in the mid to late 16th century, and even a couple of American folk songs toward the end of the concert, just to name a few.
Thomas said the Symphonic band, directed by Mercer Crook, will perform four pieces at the concert. The Brass Ensemble, directed by Donald Strand, will perform 4-6 pieces, including Aaron Copeland's percussion ensemble "Fanfare for the common man."
"The program should be pretty good," said Thomas, "we always have a good turnout, and the turnout is always appreciated."
