Round 1) Glen Dorsey, Defensive Tackle, LSU, 6'1" 297
The Falcons are going to take the best player available with the third pick in the draft and Matt Ryan is not that player. Glenn Dorsey was a monster in college last season and the crazy thing is that he was injured for most of it! Drafting a healthy Glen Dorsey is like getting Warren Sapp reincarnated.
Round 2) Joe Flacco, Quarterback, Delaware, 6'6" 230
Flacco is probably the most well-rounded quarterback in the draft. The kid has a laser arm and also ran well at the combine.
Round 2) Charles Godfrey, Cornerback, Iowa, 6'1" 208
With "Me"-angelo Hall out of the picture the Falcons have to address the cornerback position early. Godfrey is a big and physical. He has averaged 74 tackles the past two season. He also became a better pass defender last year with nine deflections and five interceptions.
Round 2) Carl Nicks, Offensive Tackle, Nebraska , 6'5" 330
This guy has quick feet. He's 6'5", 330 pounds and has played both right and left tackle.
Round 3) Jermichael Finley, Tight End, Texas, 6'5" 236
He's 6'5", 236 lbs. and he can run. Finley needs to work on his blocking skills, but his upside outweighs his faults.
Round 3) Jordy Nelson, Wide Receiver, Kansas State, 6'3" 217
This guy is a mix between Steve Largent and Hines Ward. He is a great possession receiver. He was also a high school quarterback. He is the perfect compliment for Mike Mularky's trick play offense.
Round 4) Chris McDuffie, Guard, Clemson, 6' 5", 330
This guy has tons of potential. He was a former defensive tackle. In high school he was defensive player of the year. A year on the bench and this guy could be a starting gaurd.
Round 5) Tom Zbikowski, Safety, Notre Dame, 6'0" 207
Atlanta needs a hard-nosed defender to replace Lawyer Milloy after this season. Zbikowski is a hard hitting strong safety that also happens to be a boxer with a 60-13 record. Need I say more?
Round 6) Vince Hall, Linebacker, Virginia Tech, 6'0" 238
This cat is a great tackler who is a bit on the short side. He has over 4 hundred tackle in four years.
Round 7) Dexter Jackson, Wide Receiver, Appalachian State, 5'10" 180
This kid is going to fly under the radar because he is so small and because he went to a small school. Michigan slept on him this year and ended up grabbing three catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns. This guy has kick-off returner written all over him.
Round7) Fernando Velasco, Center, Georgia, 6'4" 318
I had to throw in a home town guy. Velasco started for two years and what I really like about him is the fact that he started and finished every game. He could be a versatile lineman at the next level.
